Hiking up the Silver Lake Trail in Park City
We recently visited Park City for a part work, park fun trip and we had an amazing time. I love hiking and was so excited to hike in Park City for the first time. Of course, I didn't really think through the whole altitude thing :).
Our hotel the Stein Eriksen Lodge is halfway up the mountain in Deer Valley and the spot where the Silver Lake trail starts. The hike up the Silver Lake trail is a little over 2 miles and reaches the top of Bald Mountain at 9,400 feet! We started out around 10am, which was maybe a little late to begin the hike as the sun was already coming up around us. Luckily we had sunscreen and tons of water, which we definitely needed.
The views as we began climbing were just spectacular! Luckily I was able to stop and take a few photos when the altitude had me huffing and puffing up the mountain!
When we finally reached the top, we were soo excited! The hike was tough but certainly doable for any decently in shape person who is adjusted to the altitude. When you reach the top you can ride the chair lift down for free, which is what we did. It was a nice relaxing break after the strenuous hike, though you can always hike down if you want more!
Even though we only had time to hike one trail, I think this is a great one to hike! It is the perfect distance and has some incredible views.
